PhotosGuy Cream of the Crop, R.I.P. More info | Jun 10, 2015 23:23 | #2 "We took dozens of images with the lens before taking the fly out. We shot stopped down, we shot at all parts of the zoom range. We focused close, we focused far. And in no image could we find the slightest hint that there was a fly in the lens. And you guys worry about a dust particle or two!" That should put to rest the questions of whether dust or a little scratch matters. FrankC - 20D, RAW, Manual everything...

If I had a fly in my lens (or excessive dust), I'd be looking at a way to get it out Canon 5d, 60d, 17-40mm L, 30mm Art, 50mm, 85mm

Because them telling a customer that the fly won't affect photos through the lens they've paid good money to rent is not going to fly. Easier to remove the issue than to risk customer dissatisfaction.

For a couple weeks I had a tiny little spider in the viewfinder of my 1D4. He/she gave me hours of amusement whilst waiting for wildlife to turn up. Didn't interfere with my photography - it just bumbled around quite happily. I have no idea where he/she ended up but I miss them! Hope they aren't squished or swatted by the mirror......you'll love them less if they start weaving their web across your sensor. Seems like a nice clean place to built a fly trap.

Jun 15, 2015 22:34 | #11 I guess I'd rather have a fly in my lens than one in my soup. Or worse - 1/2 fly in my soup. Edward Jenner

I'd rather have a fly in my soup and find out about it right away. Cheaper to replace the soup than to fix the lens at a 4 hour job. And I'm picky, so I would fix the lens! Canon 5d, 60d, 17-40mm L, 30mm Art, 50mm, 85mm
