I know and understand the bias against cowbirds, that's for sure. So I'm a bit conflicted that Russell, a very tame young cowbird that my wife has adopted and been nearly hand-feeding for the last week, has become part of our family. Russell showed up at our back door barely able to shuffle-hop-flutter and my wife started feeding him/her small chunks of suet. He's/she's been hanging around ever since, growing every day but still pretty tame. Took just a few snapshots yesterday (apologies for the lousy compositions, lighting and backgrounds!) and thought I'd share, since I haven't had the chance this spring to take many other bird photos...
