Many of the elk in our area much prefer to live and forage in agricultural areas, much to the chagrin of the land owners.:-)

That is why they are all so healthy looking :-) I wish the elk on the east coast were more widespread. I always enjoy watching them. Especially in September.

Good shooting Terry. Nice sized herd in the last shot. What is the crop they are feeding in?

I hear you on that. The bugling is pretty cool also.:-)

Thanks Steve. I do believe it is the leafy stage of canola. These are all young elk, mostly yearlings. I was actually out trying to find some cows with their new calves. There have been about 50 animals in this herd. I imagine the cows have pulled off into seclusion to have their calves. They will be out one of these days with their calves. When I got back to the truck, this herd was heading for a wheat field next to the field in the pic.:-)

I like the last image - the lower angle really helps, from an aesthetic point of view.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

When I saw your title, I assumed they were captive elk. We have a local dairy farmer that raises Elk and Buffalo in addition to his dairy cows. Very nice set you have here!

Thanks Sandy. These elk indeed are very wild. The big bulls seldom wander down to the fields during daylight hours. They will come down several hours before first light to feed than head back up into the mountains before dawn.:-)

Thanks Mel. Since the wolf population has increased, more and more elk have started staying down in the agricultural areas.:-)
