Is the noise reduction in Lightroom the same as Elements noise reduction. Is there one better to use than the other? Other then shooting at a lower ISO whats the best procedure to eliminate noise in my photos.

When you say "Elements", are you talking about Camera Raw with Elements? Or Elements itself?

I haven't used Elements in several years, but it does have the "Basic" tools that Lightroom has, and I believe that includes sharpening and noise reduction, but maybe they are reduced a bit, I don't know. Lightroom does have an expanded toolset (inherited from the Adobe Camera Raw found in Photoshop CSx).

But Elements has tools in its image editor that Lightroom doesn't have and may benefit some photos!

Since you have both, why don't you experiments some and let us know!

For RAW processing the Elements V12 version of ACR and LR4 both use Process Version 2012, so the noise control/sharpening in both will be identical. I would tend to use LR for all my image management and RAW processing needs, as well as for producing final output and printing. When sending images to PSE for pixel editing, when that is necessary will send the RAW data to PSE's version of ACR for rendering. Although this version of ACR doesn't allow the use of local brush adjustments etc, which can be useful as you can use them to paint in extra noise reduction or sharpening to specific areas of the image, it does still understand them and apply those effects if they have been added in another program such as LR.

So go ahead and process your images in LR, as that has the full tool set as is included within the version of ACR that comes with the full version of PS.
