I am trying to convert raw files form a 70D to DNG files for a friend of mine who only has Photoshop CR2. I did it before, but now my version 8.7 DNG converter program will not even recognize the files are stored in the folder, but they are there.

Anyone know why that might happen?

70D support added in version 8.2 (external link). Double check the version that's running (you can have multiple, right click on the exe and look for the version), and show screenshots if you get stuck.

Tim,
I don't know how to post screen shots here. The version I have is 8.7.0.309.
The pics (CR2 Raw files) are in the folder.
When I click "Select Folder" under the first section (Select the images to convert), and I go to the folder where the pics are stored, all I get is "No items match your search" in the box where the files should show up.

You probably need someone to remote in and work it out, or ask someone locally.

I found this weird "work around" on another site, and it works:

I found this thread when I experienced "about" the same problem. If I click the <Select Folder>, and browse to a folder that contains .CR2 files from my Canon EOS-60D, the DNG Converter 6.3 proudly declares, "No items match your search".

Then, I tried to drag a .CR2 file from Windows Exploder onto the DNG Converter shortcut-icon on my desktop, and it worked! I can also drag multiple selected files from within a directory, or a complete directory there, and it works. (I can NOT drag files onto the DNG Conv itself, just onto the shortcut icon)

I have Win7/32 and a funny thing is,that when I tested DNG Conv 6.3 on my old PC which runs Win XP/SP3, the <Select Folder> function worked without a hitch. I could even browse the very same CR2 folders on my Win 7 PC, over Wi-Fi, and it worked OK on XP.

So, the problem with Adobe's DNG Converter 6.3 (and new Canon .CR2's) seems to be OS dependent. It looks like it doesn't work correctly on Vista or Win 7.
Check if the drag system works OK on Vista, as on Win 7.

If you install TeamViewer I'll remote in and have a look if you like, in about 8-10 hours. I'll PM you. I do a lot of support work for photographers, see the link in my sig.

scokar,
I have tried many other folders......thanks

TIM,
I downloaded Teamviewer. Thank you for your offer to help. It would be nice for this program to work without that convoluted work around.
