Does anyone use Astropad and use their iPad as a Wacom type tablet?
I've been thinking about getting a Wacom Pen & Touch tablet but then heard about this app.
The app is only $30 compared to $100+ for a Wacom tablet.

You can't use an iPad as anything close to a Wacom tablet. The iPad uses a capacitive screen which is great for touching buttons but extremely poor for pen input. Hopefully one day Apple will add Wacom or nTrig support (or their own equivalent technology), to some of their devices.

It's one of the reasons I stopped using my iPad and bought a Surface Pro to use instead.

I'm sure force touch (currently used on the Apple Watch) will eventually find its way to iPhones and iPads.
Even without the ability to detect how hard someone presses on the screen, Astropad still looks like an interesting option.

The problem with the iPad capacitive interface goes beyond pressure sensitivity. The technology has no ability to allow for fine control of the pen. It might be fun to try out, but in reality it's a pretty awful tool for editing. An iPad with the best capacitive pen available isn't even very good for taking written notes during a meeting.
