I've just been lucky enough to get a position in a company shooting cars for their website. This does include driving them to a location. It's fun! :-)

That sounds like a fun job to me!
Be careful of the halo at the right of the bumper & windshield, & shouldn't the windshield be darker than the sky around it? ; )

Thanks, yes it is. :-)

I'm having major problems getting the colour of cars just right with shooting when the sun is high and creating shadows. For example British Racing Green looks black in the shade and okay in sunlight.

Can you send me in the right direction please for some pointers.

Thanks

Simon.

getting the colour of cars just right

First, when you're shooting for others to see on the web there's no guarantee that what you see will be the same as what 'they' see?

Second, what's the purpose of the images? The one that you posted will get someones attention, but may not be 'right' for some purposes. Does the company want to sell the cars, or sell a service like customizing/detailing?

Do you also intend to do detail images something like this?: 2007 Chevy HHR

Yes, that's exactly what I need to do. The shots are for the company website to advertise for sale. The one I posted was just for fun. I must take 9, in very similar positions to the Chevy. It's when I have the car positioned and the sun shines on say the front (bonnet) and puts the side in the shade.

Many thanks for your help.

Don't want to sound harsh but...invest in a circular polarizer and lay off the HDR-esque post production.

I've got a B & W circular polarizer and use it for every shot apart from inside cars. The HDR was, as I said in an earlier post just for a bit of fun. :-)
