I have my numbering set up this way on my camera. At a two day airshow that I shot recently I ended up screwing badly with my file names, as I was shooting multiple cards, and I rolled over during the day. As I was swapping cards about I popped a previously swapped card (I had changed it early so that I could get a single display item without a card change (and reset of ML settings) in the middle) to fill it up with the last few shots. This then reset the numbering, so I ended the day with about a 100 files with the same file name. Not something you would normally expect to happen.
