good timing with that one, definitely something you don't see every day around our neck of the woods!

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

Definitely a cool shot. Would be interesting to know how far apart they actually were...

Just found out - they were both Lufthansa A340s and were 5000 feet apart.

IIRC for airways traffic minimum separation distances are vertical 5000 feet, and I think horizontal of 1 Nm, but it's been a while since I did Airmanship.

Cool shot, this one. Strange that they look roughly the same size although 5000 ft vertically seperated?

That was my first thought, not much of a size difference made me think they were rather close to each other. They sure don't look like they are almost a mile apart but I believe Pagman.

I checked them on a flight radar site i use a lot and they were exactly 5K height difference, the plane below was a Airbus A340 300 srs, and the one above was a Airbus A340 600 srs, slightly longer but the same wingspan.

I'm not really surprised that they look the same size, remember that although they are 5K' 1NM apart they are also both at least 50K' away from the camera, and the perspective at that distance is going to be pretty flat. I have a couple of pictures from the last Duxford show, of a Bristol Blenheim MK IF and a pair of Spitfire MK Ia's in Vic formation, with the Blenheim leading, and it is very difficult to tell which is on which side. The perspective is that flattened, and they were at only a couple of hundred feet, and about 400 yards away with about 100' between them.

If there had not been any overlap between the closest Spitfire and the Blenheim I do not think from that picture I could have told you which one was closer.
