Can we post error reports here? Recently got this:

NETWORK ERROR 3
Some services are down, saving your text is not possible right now. Please try again in a moment. [close]

I unknowingly ended up with duplicate posting (which I deleted later) and couldn't get out of the page. And my MQ's were still active. -?

EDIT: Just trying to post here I got the same error.

1.33 has improvements in functionality, but Jenna Sue has vacated the index page. All the headings are in a chunky, graceless, standard face. I have Long View on. Wasn't Jenna going to be preserved in a at least a few places on that page?

I actually changed it a few days ago, and your comment is the first one of it.

I did changes to index page font for several reasons.

1. If you compare the long view, short view and collapsed mode: they all have now the same font. That is logical.

2. Those area names are long strings which are hard to read fast (and while scrolling) for people who do not read script font. As you know teaching of the script font is not increasing in the future (sigh), kids won't understand it in near future. That index page is an "utility" page where you must see all by a glance without effort. That is why sans-serif is a better choice there.

3. If the web font JennaSue did not load properly or it was denied by a browser, the replacement font was amateur-looking as the metrics of JennaSue are vastly different from "normal" fonts and fixing that needs to be done with javascript. This caused flicker called "FOUT" (there is a delay in trying load the font and delay by possible attempts to use an alternative font). Vertical layout problems among other happen easily.

4. On page headers like gallery a script font has its place as a decorative short main header font. Understanding script font can not a requirement in order to navigate.

I work hard for readability and ease of use. Above change was for that purpose.

Thanks for explaining. Hanging out in RTAT will have to provide my Jenna Sue fix.

Had an issue pop up on my tablet the other day. I was reading through my posts and when I tapped on a link to read a post everything was pretty much in text mode. Even the links like the 'New Posts' button was not a button but a link. So was everything else.

Lens detection from EXIF has been improved.

Code was updated 20 min ago.

False positives should not happen any more. If a lens is not 100% detected, it is set to "n/a".

Manual corrections are possible and most welcome:
If you have seen wrong lens detection before this in your images, or get the "n/a", please click that "EDIT METADATA" command right on top of the image and select a correct lens from there. If you add the lenses to your gear list, you'll get a quick lens dropdown in metadata editor which makes things easier and much faster for you.

If you get false lens or camera detections, PM me and I'll investigate.

Nikon lenses, when they have lensid in EXIF, are now detected correctly.

Only 4 nikon lenses on the database do not have lensid (if you know the hex/decimal ids for them let me know):

AF-S DX Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR II https://photography-on-the.net/forum/gearindex.php?id=532
AF-S Nikkor 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR https://photography-on-the.net/forum/gearindex.php?id=595
AF Nikkor 35mm f/1.4 https://photography-on-the.net/forum/gearindex.php?id=553
AF Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 https://photography-on-the.net/forum/gearindex.php?id=562

I'll continue adding improvements to EXIF reading. Problematic lenses are e.g. Sigmas, which have EXIF lensids which overlap with Canon and Nikon ids. It's a slow job to solve all the issues, but when I get all lens specs done it gets easier. Also, if you add your lenses to your gear list that info will also be used in detecting lenses.

I just posted an image in the 150-600 Sigma C
the EF 100-400L IS II no longer populated, thank-you
out lens is still not recognized but it is of course available in our own gear drop-down.
Thank-you ~

* still awaiting the 70-300L IS to be available as a gear choice, instead of the "75-300L IS"

Fixed a bug in gear image upload (on gear pages like https://photography-on-the.net/forum/gearindex.php?id=169 ), now the uploaded image is stored properly. Please try again now.

It gives you this error when you click the link: "Error: id NOT VALID! BACK"

Chet, the right parenthesis became part of the URL. Remove it and the link will work. :)

I'm confused now. Pekka, are you saying that when we upload an image to a gear page, it should be immediately visible? I mean, I uploaded a number of images last week and none are showing, but I thought that was due to you having to review them first, resize them, etc.

Yes, I review them first and possibly edit them.

All gear image uploads since release of 1.33 went to bit heaven :-( because of the bug I fixed just now.

So if you still feel up to it, please upload again, thanks!
