Good news for those of us who have encountered artifacts when shooting star trails or when torturing blue skies with curves in Photoshop:

Lets hope they mean loss less compressed and not simply uncompressed. :o I will take uncompressed but loss less is saving us some space without side effects.

Uncompressed is fine with me. Hard disk space and SD cards are cheap (and, as a landscape photographer, I don't shoot many frames anyway) and uncompressed files are faster for the computer to handle - they save time at the cost of a little file size (not that you save that much with lossless compression anyway).

OK, fair enough but you save about 40% based on D800 figures. (uncompressed 14 bit file size is 74.4 MB and NEF (RAW) loss less compressed 14 bit file size as 41.3 MB) but as I can now fit 1700 RAWs onto a 64GB card, I could live with half that. Since I mainly bought the a7r as a landscape body I guess it is a moot point.
