smythie I wasn't even trying More info | Jun 18, 2015 19:45 | #2 Hmm, an interesting range. Even narrower range than the 18-35 DC and and slightly slower too. I wonder what it would add over the 24 and 35 Art primes aside from zoom flexibility. If it fixed the coma issues of the 24Art that a lot of night sky shooters were disappointed with, it'd find a good market I guess

I'm willing to wait an see how this one performs. Keep in mind that this is a DG zoom lens with a constant max aperture of f/2.0, not the 2.8 that the other companies seem to limit themselves to

PineBomb I have many notable flaws More info | Jun 18, 2015 21:40 | #6 I think it's an interesting idea, but I don't know that I believe the rumor. A 24-70 2.8 Art is already rumored/expected, and this 24-35 would be an overlapping niche lens. A 24-70 2.8 will retail for around $1200-$1300, right? This 24-35 would probably retail for more because of the f/2 (maybe not)? It just seems a lot riskier for Sigma to produce than something like the 18-35 and certainly riskier than a new 24-70 2.8. -Matt

Yeah....24-35 is more of a landscapers focal range, and for that type of shooting, there's little value in opening the aperture up to f2. focalpointsphoto.com

That might be a dealbreaker for me. ![]() weird, i was going to say my sigma zooms rotate the same way...but then i looked at the picture of this lens, and it is definitely the opposite... This was the first Sigma I've seen that doesn't zoom in the same direction as Canon lenses. It made me think the lens was a hoax until it was officially announced. - Kevin Kevin DiOssi Photography
