Sigma Announces new Sigma 24-35mm f/2 DG HSM Art

i didn't see this anywhere else...it's not on dpreview.com yet...but it's listed at B&H, so i think it's legit...

A stop slower than the 24A & 35A. Almost 50% heavier than either of them. Longer MFD than the 24A. 82mm filters. Slap a $1600 price tag on it and they got another straight-up winner; just like the 24-105 OS. Whaaa...???

This... instead of an 85A?

i don't see it being $1,600...I'd guess like a $1,000

i would be interested if it was a 18 or even a 20-35 f/2 and ready to sold my 16-35 f/2.8II but 24 is a bit not wide enough for me and for this kind of lens

I'll be interested in a 24A for $650, which is where Sigma will have to price them if they release the 24-35 at $1,000. This beast is too large and heavy for me. I'd rather have two primes. The 24A @ $650 would compliment my 35 IS, nicely.

Looks interesting for a street lens. Look forward to real world samples.

Yeah, it's intended for someone who's sick of swapping 24 and 35 primes, but that WEIGHT. I'll drag around a 24-70 or 70-200 at that load, but I don't know about this one.

I want to like it....

24-35 is a very short focal change. Only around 1.47x zoom. This is very interesting. I think if they had made it the same 18-35 as the crop zoom then this would of been super amazing even at F2 and the weight but it's only a 24 so not sure what to think.

well... i own the 15-30 which is only 2.8. Kinda redundant to own this 24-35 F2.

Although I really liked the 35 I love my 24. But they are 1.4.

Ugh I'm so frustrated Sigma wanted to release this.
Right now I have the
CANON 24MM 1.4L (Version 1, lacks sharpness at 1.4, mostly use at F2 but still lacking for me somehow)
SIGMA 35MM 1.4L

I would get this lens so I wouldn't have to switch so much since I use 35 more and hate switching to 24 for a bit and then back to 35. Should I sell these lenses before this comes out? It's such a hassle to resell these lenses since there's so much in the used market.

Me too, but it's such an odd bird.

I want to like this lens but the market for it seems very small - if it had IS and weighed 30% less then maybe.
