10k Sunrise!!!

The early bird gets the worm... In this case, a beautiful sunrise from Haleakalā National Park in Maui, Hawaii... Woke up at 2am to make our way up the summit of the mountain at a little over 10k above sea level... It was cold, dark, and windy... But all was good, as the sun started to rise above the horizon and fill the skies with magnificent colors these eyes have ever seen... Truly a wonderful experience that I'll have for the rest of my life... The image below doesn't do it justice, but you can get a jist of what it entailed... Canon 5DsR + 16-35L2 + Lee 105mm CPL and Lee 0.9 Soft Edge GND Filter (stacked)... ISO 100, f/5.6 @ 0.3sec exposure...

Its unbelievably detailed around the eye area using this combo even at f3.2 and 1/400th sec . I too use this type of combo( 5dsr/ ef400 f2.8) for a lot of my long distance shooting and Im firmly convinced 3 years on from its release there is still nothing out there in the 35mm/full frame camera space that comes close to the optical resolving detail of this sensor for long distance shots. It amazed me 3 years ago when I first saw shots coming off a prime and 5dsr body combo and nothings changed 3 years on which is testament to Canons ability to pull the occasional rabbit out of the hat technology wise .

BTW Im not saying this because I have one......I have a couple of newer Fuji bodies and lens as well as other brand gear I regularly shoot with and each of these brands especially fuji have a lot of plus's over my current Canon gear . However, when it comes down to the sheer optical resolving power of a camera and lens combo in long distance shooting IMO nothing comes close to the 5DSR and a good prime like the 400mm f2.8 IS

Ahhhh who you trying to fool. Everybody knows that you need a camera that do 10+ frames per second to get great wildlife photos!

The 5DS and 5DSR PHOTO THREAD made me by this crappy camera, I regret selling my 7D2

I just hired a 5Ds to cover a sports event this weekend - I know... What was I thinking...

Only 20 test shots or so in I have a really good feeling about this camera.

It might be the one to replace my old and trusty 5Dc, I've only got to convince myself the 5D mark III isn't that more of an allround camera.

Unfortunately the 5D mark IV is out of budget.
