What did your tests reveal? I don't see anything in the picture that I would call sharp. Looks like a lot of my pictures actually. >>> Pictures? What pictures? <<<<

Rod The actual "test" here was merely gathering camera raw data to collect using my Pixelbook to upload fotos from either the 5DSr, or its media, into DigiKam on the Penguin Linux container. So, I was mainly just gathering data to test using the recently installed DigiKam, which I was just getting up to speed on. My other main tool on Linux is the incredible RawTherapee, but it's not as well situated as a DAM. My photography workflow is 100% FOSS on Linux, never going back to Adobe, Apple, or Google for creative tools. 2x 7D Mark II | 70D | 5DSr

I happened to see the little birds were swirling around me when I walked from my garage office outside, to get some test fotos on the camera/media, for this purpose. After I saw the results on the computer, I immediately recognized my technique errors. The exposure should have been done at much higher ISO, (1600-2000), to enable Av of f/4 to f/5.6, to open up the DoF. And to also allow a faster Tv, because these little critters moved about very quickly. But this test was also the first time I was able to get such pictures, at a working distance of 1-2m away, and I knew that cropping would likely yield good results. So, I was more concentrating on just getting one of the birds in the shot at all, as versus doing so with correct exposure for sharpness. The liittle test was also a reminder that sharpess with the 5DS when working handheld requires Tv of 2-4x faster than what you're normally used to. However, the IS on the 100mm macro helps a lot by keeping the viewfinder display from being so jumbly. I've been using Debian Linux full time since 2001. Couldn't go back to Windows. >>> Pictures?
