Wow!! great detail, love the colors, and smooth soft BG nicely complements bird. ....Its a perfectly captured BIF.......Top Shot!

BTW.....Be interested in lens you use?....saw f5.6 and wonder if it was 100-400 .......Whichever lens it was has given you a damn good shot when paired with that 50MP sensor detail!

Thanks Clipper, I used EF500/4IS II+1.4TC III, wish I had a better lighting though.

thought I would do something a little different

i while ago I took a picture, with the 5DSR, of a friend's painting for her (it hangs in my home)

in the space I have i figured 85mm was about the correct FL

looked up SLRGEAR.com and found that th 85L II is crazy sharp at F4.5 - so that is where I took the picture

today, i thought I would give it a try with the 35L II at F5.6

both pictures are below and can be downloaded if you want to compare how sharp each lens really is you need to download the files

because of the different FL and then some cropping there are differences between the two pictures - and the lighting is slightly different for sure

the 35L II has slightly better colours (my opinion), but there is more detail from the 85L which I found surprising (you have to really zoom in to see it but the 85L @ F4.5 seems not just a little bit sharper than the new 35L II at F5.6 (trust me it is crazy sharp until you see the 85L II)

the 85L II, a lens I wanted to love, I have found much more love for it with the Sony A7Rii so I can use lower SS - but it is a crazy sharp lens when it is stopped down (if the 85L III get the 35L II love and comes with IS it would cost Otus money but I would buy it)

35L II

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.
