Just want to confirm or get corrected on my assumption. If I use my 5D classic and set the exposure using manual, will the f580 II still work in Ettl or do i need to adjust that manually as well?

The flash will still work in ETTL. This is good for run-n-gun shooting with the flash on camera, such as candid shots at a party where the interior lighting is not changing but the distance-to-subject is constantly changing.

However, if you're shooting in a fixed location (studio shots, etc) you may want to set it to manual anyway, so that the flash exposure is not affected by the subject matter.

Thank you. I am attending a small outdoor wedding this evening and want to expose for the sunset in the background and have the flash expose for the subject...
