OK, I have always had the original strap on my cameras. I really don't even use it, I always carry my camera in my hand, strap dangling.

I work for a fire department, so I'm on scenes, in the mix and up close and personal. I have two cameras, a Canon 5DMK3 and a Canon 6D. One has a 17-40 on it, the other a 24-105. I'm looking for slings or straps so I can have both cameras hanging at my sides, that are easy to switch/raise up to my eye. I see a lot of slings attach with a tripod mount screw, and this is mainly what brings me here...can they be trusted? It doesn't seem 'safe' to have a camera swinging around being held on by this type of connector, so my main question is...how safe is it? Also, I'm 6' 6", about 275 lbs., so I want something damn long. I'd also like to be able to not be holding either camera (To carry hoses/axe/etc...) without them swinging around too much and hitting each other. ...and oh yeah, I don't have a ton to spend. I was looking at this sling from BestBuy's site, and thought it looked OK...any thoughts? I would buy 2 of them.

I don't know this particular sling but read these reviews; one says too short for people over 5'6"...good luck. I obviously missed the link buy go to Amazon and jey in the model number and you will know what I meant.
