Recent test shoot with a local model agency! Shot with a Canon 6D and 70-200 f2.8L Version I lens

If her sleeves weren't so baggy that would have been a great image. At first glance, it makes her arm look larger than it should be. Also watch the cutting off of digits.

Even before i read your last question, i thought it was not quite on par with the rest of the images. Perhaps it was just being the only one in color in the last set.

Over all it is a very sold set!

2nd pair is very catalog... nice... fix your w/b though.

Third and fourth set are my favorites. And I agree on that sleeve making her arm look rather large, other than that I do like the pose

Ugh, i know i'm horrible with white balance especially when I start experimenting with different post processing techniques on photos in the same set.

Sometimes I won't be able to replicate what I did to picture A, onto picture B...I realize i need to work on my consistency.

I'll echo what others have said about the arm and the sleeve. That pose would work well with something relatively body hugging I think.

Also, FYI I can see the wrinkles in the sheet (?) used as the backdrop in #3 and #4. They don't look obvious enough to be left there deliberately... ? I like 5 and 7 the most although I'd prefer her leg not being chopped off in 5 and the horizon straightened in 7.

She's lovely though.

RE: the baggy sleeves everybody is commenting about. One of the most important people in a fashion shoot is the wardrobe stylist. It's their job to make the pieces look fitted to the model. They usually have pins, clamps, tapes, you name it.... so as to make those clothes look good at an angle.

Any chance we can get EXIF info? I am extremely impressed with the sharpness of the old 70-200. I have the same setup. I'm struggling to get that sharpness. Even with a monopod.

Easy solution: shoot a grey card in each location and color balance off that, then copy the settings to all the other photos taken at that location.

I like the model's pose, expression, exposure in all but the second photo of each of the last two sets.

I'm not an expert in fashion but both the photo of her walking and the one in the fringed vest look forced to me. I also agree that the vest is unattractive, and I think that's contrary to the point of fashion photography.

I am also slightly disconcerted about the bare midriff in combination with the long coat -- it just seems an unnatural combination.

Thank you for the critiques everyone! I really appreciate it! Yeah i feel that the vest and the walking one is a bit forced so I'll be sure to take those off my website. I guess that's why the agent didn't choose those! And yes, that really is a bed sheet! It seems to be the "fashion" nowadays to use a semi wrinkly sheet. I saw it on a retailers website and thought it looked pretty cool, but obviously i didn't pull it off as well as they did. They use a specific weight of cloth to achieve a very fine wrinkle.

I'm not exactly sure how to extract the exif, but looking hitting my camera's "info" button it shows that the first one with leafy background was shot at 105mm, F2.8, ISO 400, 1/500.

The ones against the white background were shot at 80mm, F4, ISO 100 1/80. A constant LED light panel was used to give her face a bit of pop and color for those shots.

The first 2 black and white ones were all shot at 100mm, F3.5, ISO 400 1/320.

The 3rd black and white one was shot at 200mm, F2.8 ISO 400, 1/320

The last one was shot 105mm f2.8 ISO 400, 1/500.

Thanks Golden! That's perfect! I have a small LED light panel myself. I plan on using that for a wedding in the woods in September.

No prob! The 70-200, as old a lens it is, has continued to be amazing. I've gone through stages where I wanted to replace it with a 135 F2L or 85mm f1.2L. But still go back to the 70-200 for its sharpness and most important convenience.

It's not the lens I always want to use, but end up using haha.

2, 4, 5, and 7 are working for me

Other than the minor things those are some nice shots.My faves are the 1st two images
