My Photoflex umbrella broke

I swear, things just aren't made like they used to be. Was setting up for a shot last night and one of the supporting "rods" (not the ribs that run the length of the umbrella but the other ones that supposedly keep it open) is sticking through the umbrella material. I look up, and it's broken. I cuss a little, and decide that it's fine because it is still capable of holding itself open. What a peice of junk. I guess I forced it or something but geez. People rave about the quality, but this thing had no reason to snap off like it did. I mean, umbrellas have been around for how long? Just disappointed and had to rant a little. thanks for reading.

Mine broke too, but that's because it, the strobe and the 10' light stand it was on got knocked over by the wind!

Yeah form now on I think I'm buying the cheap stuff.

Turns out my B800 survived intact, where on the day it wouldn't fire - it works so yay!

Photoflex ssill isn't that expensive, are there much cheaper ones that are worth buying?

I bought this umbrella made by smith-victor last week and it's made well and very cheap.. the light quality is as good as some of the high dollars one I have..
