Hey all,

I recently bought a Sony a6000 with the 16-50mm kit lens and really like the camera. The kit lens is nice, although it has issues at the extreme wide-angle end. So, I've been casting about for a good-quality prime wide-angle that will be sharper than the kit lens and be useful for landscape photography.

I did order a Sigma 19mm from B&H a few days ago. When I ordered it, it was on backorder and supposed to arrive at B&H in 7-14 business days. I've since discovered that the arrival date has been pushed back to early August, so I cancelled the order rather than see my bank account debited for a lens that may not arrive for a long time, if ever.

I'm very disappointed, as this lens has consistently been on backorder/delayed or generally unavailable pretty well everywhere for a long time now. I realize that this isn't the fault of B&H. There are a few sellers on Amazon that claim to have this lens in stock, but they want at least $300 or more despite the fact that it typically retails for $199.00.

I've considered getting either the 16 or 20mm Sony pancake lens instead, but virtually every review I've seen seems to indicate both lenses are worse performers than the Sigma, and cost more to boot.

If you were in my position, what prime wide-angle would you get, and why?

Rokinon/Samyang/Bower (all the same company) 12mm f2 would be my choice.

I bought an a6000 with a 16-70 and found that it was not wide enough for some of the shots I was doing, so I got a Rokinon 12 f2, which has proved to be a very sharp lens. I use it mainly for interiors and distorted perspective shots and it works very well. It was a toss up between the 8 and the 12, but I think I made the right choice.

+1 on the Rokinon 12mm EF. I've used this lens for a real estate shoot and was surprised and pleased with the result.
