I at one time had a long list of exposure values for different scenarios in the field, such as grass, sky, etc. Does anyone have an extensive list of these any longer? (Exp comp values)

Why would exposure be the same for a particular subject when lighting conditions are expected to vary?
Sunny 16 rule?

Why do you want it? Even grass varies a lot around here in Michigan. Then there's changing light as Larry said.
If you're looking for a general guide for exposure, this works well for me: Need an exposure crutch?

'Sunny-16' rule:
1/ISO @ f-16 for bright sunlight. So, ISO 400 = 1/400 sec @ f-16 as a starting point.
Subtract 1 f-stop each for partly cloudy, cloudy, overcast, & dark overcast.
Add one for snow, beach sand pics, etc.

Have you thought about making your own book? // Need an exposure crutch?
New Image Size Limits: Image must not exceed 1600 pixels on any side.

I don't know if it's what you're looking for, but I found this page (external link) as a reference some years ago. Charts close to the bottom of the page, but the whole thing was a useful read for me at the time.

If that doesn't help, maybe this one (external link)?

Again, what do you need to use it for? I can't see where "-1 to +1" would be of much use to anyone given that we have histograms now.

Maybe he is using film (no histogram) or maybe he is collecting photo ephemera, or....or.....

In any event, "why" really doesn't help him to find what he is looking for!

The big list you have is exposure COMPENSATION 'cheats'. Notice none of them are overly large. Practicing will get you a lot further (in the long run) than a cheat sheet. EC is really not difficult. Another option is to shoot raw. Most of those values are within the recovery range of raw files.

Its just a neat little thing to glance at. I know how to shoot a picture. At timed I've found that handy. But since the forum members disapprove, I will no longer use it.

Do what works for you, you don't need anyone's approval.

Ok lads - I'll have a look in the loft for an old FP3, HP5 or Kodachrome instruction sheet. This goes back to the 1940s -1950s before selenium cell light meters became available and affordable to the average amateur photographer. I had a Weston Master in the 50s. Can't remember what it cost but must've been megabucks (relatively) in those days as I was at school.

Regards

I don't understand at all why in the day of digital you wouldn't chimp it. Most DSLRs will show you a histogram and show clipping, so what advantage is there for this chart?
