Hey guys,
I was wondering what you all recommended as a beginner camera? One that will last a long time because really i'm only wanting to update lenses for a while not upgrade the actual camera. Preferably not outrageously expensive. :-) Any ideas for the newbie?

One of the first things you'll be asked is what's your budget, not outrageously expensive is very subjective.

Heya,

We need a budget.
We need to know what you're interests are.

Also, you will likely upgrade cameras before lenses. Lenses have a lot longer useful life span. But don't worry about either.

Lastly, are you new to the concept of photography, or just these sorts of cameras these days?

Very best,

This is what I tell friends that ask questions about getting a "good" camera:
1. Budget at least $1,000 for everything likely needed for camera, spare battery, lenses, memory cards, bag, maybe a flash, etc.
2. Start saving! The initial expenditure is just the beginning. It happens, I know much too well.

I used a Canon T3i for a few years, and it did a fine job for me, so the more current version may be a good choice (T6i or T6r). A good kit lens, tripod, batteries, CPL and maybe a longer lens also should fit the budget. You may want to upgrade before you NEED to upgrade. Nikon also makes a similar camera in the same price range- I don't want to start a Canon vs Nikon debate; both would be very good. While other brands offer some great equipment (Pentax, Olympus, Sony, etc), if you really become an avid photography enthusiast the Big 2 will always have something that will do what you want, and will reduce the chance of having to re-invest in a new line.

But the budget you set will allow you to get started with very capable gear from many manufacturers.

Sony if you have no idea, it can be A6000. You'll have extra budget and spend more on glass and the accessies.

When you decide to enter this hobby more you can choose a path on your own.
