What's a good tripod and head to get for Canon 5D3 gripped with 300 F4 IS?

I'll admit up-front that I think overkill is best for tripods, so I tend towards thicker and heavier models. What I'm listing here isn't cheap.

Have a look at this test. http://www.dpreview.com …ans-top-ball-heads-tested (external link)
Not on that test but also excellent is the Kirk BH-1 (which I owned for 11 years until I went a little lighter/smoother with an Arca-Swiss Z1).

For the legs, I have a Gitzo 3530 which has served me well for years. They are very sturdy. The vibrations from tapping the legs stops immediately. I've used them in strong winds without much worry. They have been upgraded with newer and better legs, like the 3542.

For reference, I use a 5D3 and 100-400L with zero worries on the Gitzo/Z1 combo.

Also, have a look at Really Right Stuff. A friend has the TVC-33 and loves it.

And take a look at the Feisol 3472.
