I would like to recomend to all EOS users a PDF that Canon has:
Camera Handeling and Maximum Image Quality

http://photoworkshop.com/canon/EOS_Digital.pdf (external link)

A Canon produced .pdf file with consise detailed information that is very usefull and good to learn. It is geared towards the EOS-1 professional camera in specific but still applies to all Digital EOS cameras in general.

It discusses sharpening, RAW vs. JPG and Lens testing and calibration.

Never hurts to re-post this incredible PDF from Canon that's actually titled:

GETTING THE MOST
FROM YOUR EOS-1
CLASS DIGITAL SLR

TIPS AND TECHNIQUES:

CAMERA HANDLING
& MAXIMUM IMAGE
QUALITY

Even though it's targeted for 1-series owners, it's an incredible primer for all Canon dSLR owners.
