First attempt. There is a lot of noise in this image so I processed it in ACR initially and saved it as a DNG file.

Then: Tonemap in SNS-HDR > feed resulting TIF into Photoshop for more noise reduction with Topaz Denoise > moved and enlarged the moon > obliterated the shed on the left with a tree > nik tonal contrast filter > crop and resize.

In acr: Gradiant filter, top, bottom, middle and sites.
In CC: anothoter gradiant filter with warm color.
fog in center image.
some parts more vibrant in the green parts.
Some "burn" in the center, and ligted up.
No noise reduction. the gradiant filters take care off that ')

Basic edit. Heavy NR and some playing with color is about all I did, as litterally everything else I did seemed to highlight all the noise.

Rawtherapee 5.2 edit. Did stuff with color curves in L*a*b*, denoising, LMMSE demosaicing w/enhancement and false color suppression.

Workflow was similar to my previous attempt but this time I used much more agressive noise reduction in ACR before any subsequent processing.

Basic adjustments in Photoshoop ACR, set white & black point, adjust shadows/highlights and apply noise reduction. Add a graduated ND filter effect from the bottom up with a +.5 exposure to open up the foreground.

In Photoshop, crop to 21:9 then to 16:9 for the black bars, add a new full moon, apply an Autumn color lookup table layer (LUT), boost saturation a bit using Topaz Simplify.

Thank you for all the well wishes. I did sustain some damage to one of my barns, out buildings and fruit & citrus trees. All livestock survived. A little work ahead now for cleanup and repairs. It's lots of work before and after the storm preparing for it, and then putting everything back the way it was prior to storm. Our area received 21.7 inches of water on the ground. The most in Fl, I understand. In 2007 both Frances and Jean a week apart hit us as our area was ground zero, it looked like what you seen on TV for the Keys. That took two years to fully recover with rebuild and repairs, mostly rebuild. Thank goodness retirement is on the horizon, and we can have a normal life as just an homeowner, and not a large Organic Farm. Then it will be easy.

This weeks winner is Navydoc. RRBlint was the runner up. Congrats to both of you.

Here is my edit. I tried to remove as much noise as I could without taking out too much of the detail.

Thanks very much. I'm afraid I don't have a lot of interesting images to edit so I hope everyone will bare with me when I post a mediocre shot to be edited.

Before and After - The Weekly Editing Challenge
...now compiled into a single, easy to locate thread, that can be added to your subscribe/follow list!

Rules are simple:

  • Download the image file from the current week

  • Contestants will have 7 days to edit the image and post their edited version to the thread (1 entry per week)

  • The owner of the original image will choose a winner

  • The winner will copy & paste this post and include a new downloadable image link

The new image must be unedited / SOOC (straight our of camera), full-resolution, and in a RAW format, ie. CR2, DNG, TIF, etc (Dropbox works well for uploading and linking these large files) The purpose of this game is to be creative and learn new editing techniques. You must give some insight into exactly how you went about editing the image. For example, increased shadows sliders, reduced highlights, local sharpening, white balance adjustment, specific filters used, tone curve adjustments, etc. Comments and/or questions regarding the edits are encouraged.

This was taken at the local airport and I hope it has some potential.

Pumped clarity, saturated the blue a bit. Then brushed in the sky and added strong dehaze and more clarity. As well as dropping the exposure. OH and a bit of vignette. In LR then to PS for the lightning. I call it, "into the storm"
