Very cool Martin. I love working on old Kodachromes. I'm now wondering who the people are. Family members? I assume that you were behind the lens?

Thanks. Yes, I was behind the lens and, yes, all bodies are family members (except the wedding shot) :-)

Remove color cast, replace sky, curve, levels, and color adjustments. Added globally a bit warmness since this is Hawaii, the land of sun, sand & sea.

Healing and spot heal to remove flyspecks. Curves adjustment restricted to the mountain. Also an overall curves adjustment. Color and contrasts adjusted in Topaz Clarity. Noiseware.

Clean the photo (please next time clean your scanner first).
Set image to B&W.
Make a layer off the mountens, and ad a mask to it.
With curves some more darknes so it stand out a bit more.
Make a new layer off the kid.
And with the new CC neutral filters giving him some new colors.
Merged al the layers and do some more cleanup.
A little over exposure in the sky, to hide the jpg artifacts.

Thanks for that.

BTW the scanner was clean, it's almost impossible to remove dust from 60yr Kodachromes.

1. I reckon that this is one of the more difficult shots. Not only is it very dirty but it is not focussed correctly. Here is my workflow in Photoshop.
Adjust contrast > replace sky > Topaz sharpen AI using the focus facility.

A bit of history: "The pass over the Alps at Loibl/Ljubelj wass strategically important to Germany during WWII. It was a transport route between the German Reich and the Balkans. Starting in 1941/1942, work is carried out on a road tunnel that can be used in winter. In 1943 the firm Universale Hoch- und Tiefbau AG takes over the project. The SS hires out concentration camp prisoners to the firm as workers, housing them in a north and a south camp. Without any of the usual safety precautions, the prisoners have to dig the tunnel through the mountain from both the north and south sides.

2. Possibly the first wedding on the Isle of Rum (NW Scotland) for 200 years!

Photoshop > remove dust blemishes > add blue tint to sky > Topaz Clarity > Topaz Sharpen AI

Opps, Sorry Martin
First one, LR lens correction, to PS remove color cast, crop, curve, levels, and color adjustments. Darkened backround and slight blur

Second LR lens correction and detail panel to PS remove color cast, replaced sky, crop, curves, and color adjustments.

Cleaned up dust on both images.

First, I duplicated the background in PS CC and applied the dust & scratch removal plugin by Lasersoft Imaging (I wanted to keep the original sky). Then I opened the image using the ACR filter and added a graduated ND filter to the sky and adjusted white/black points, shadows, highlights, and exposure. Back in PS, I did more spot removal and used the 'Burn' tool on the boy and wood to kill the overly bright areas. I also used the 'Clone' tool in darken blend mode to remove the fringing at the edge between the sky and mountains. Next, I added a levels adjustment layer and played around with brightness/contrast, and boosted saturation some. Finally, I added some grain to the sky and a Kodachrome border using Alien Skin X4 in keeping with the original image.

Love this one. AP change sky=> PL4 NR, reduce colorcast, remove most dust and dirt, add vignette.
