A T-Rex is hard to compete with (and you did a good job of getting it in there behind the pillar)!

I did have the urge to stick something in the photo . . . but I resisted.

Here is my take, a very fast job with some poor masking!
heavy cropping
Creek added
other adjustments, can't remember what I did

Ok, I'll go first again!

For some reason this image screamed jurrasic park to me. So that's what I went with! Just basic edits in light room to knock out the highlights and increase contrast/clarity for a more dramatic look. Had to bring the shadows up as it was overall to dark for my liking originally. Then over to photoshop to place the random image of a trex I found! Used a mask to place him behind the pillar on the right of the image.

Macphun FX Photo Studio CK does some really wonderful things with this image! I've had the trial on my computer for a while, and I decided to see if I liked how any of the effects worked on my edited version of this image. So many of them worked well! I had to pay for the full version. This competition just cost me $39.99 CAD. I'm going to be using these filters on everything for the next month.

So, this is my original edit, with the Macphun FX Photo Studio CK "Ancient Canvas" filter.

Shelley, not sure whether it's clever; I'm an artist and just see things differently :)

Wow, these are all really dynamite guys and gals. I can see that I'm going to have trouble choosing among these next week. Keep them coming. Add whatever you wish neacail, that's what that space was left for.

Okay. I've made my decision, and it was really, really tough. I can honestly say that I liked each and every one of the edits. I loved the crops, the b&w, the creative use of colour, and the details.

To make my decision, I download each of the edits and created a slideshow with them in iMovie. I wanted to find the one image that would inspire me to get back out to that location to shoot it at a better time of day (I can be at the top of Sulphur Mountain in two hours from where I live).

I had to watch it several times, as I found that I had a really strong emotional reaction to two of the images. I had a hard time deciding between them. Ultimately, I found that one of the images spoke to me just a tiny bit more.

Congratulations, Mark (rrblint) you're the winner:

A special mention goes to timd35.

It was really close . . . and I would have called a tie if I could, but that would mess up the whole format of the competition.

I'm glad some of you have really enjoyed working with this photo . . . with the Canadian dollar in the tank this might be a great summer/fall (I think fall is best) to come to the Alberta Rockies for a photographic expedition. ;)

Thanks Shelley, appreciate the special mention.

Congrats Mark!
