Canon refurbished has the 135L in stock, today.

I've been checking the site at least twice a day for weeks. Nothing. Today I gave up and ordered a new 135L from Best Buy. Just for giggles, I check the refurbs again, about an hour ago. They are back in stock. Needless to say, I ordered one immediately, and canceled my Best Buy order. Here is a link if you are interested:

This and the 70-300L, but if my girlfriend comes home from vacation and discovers that I not only got the 50A but picked up anything else...

I PM'd on two used ones, today, and backed out. I gave up and ordered a new one. I am so happy ($214 worth of happy) that it showed up on REFURBS before I picked up my order at BB.

I know, I know, I know. I'd prefer to sell some first before purchasing elective lenses. It's just been so slow around here.

Amazingly, they still have stock this morning.

You guys in the USA are Sooooooooooooooo lucky to have both an offical direct from Canon re-furb outlet, AND the Customer Loyalty Program.

I wish those of us in the rest of the world could benefit.

I like refurbs. As I understand it, most refurbished cameras and lenses are returns from retail sales. The risk to consider is the reason for the return, which is mitigated by the facts that you still get a warranty, and you can return it if it doesn't meet your expectations. Also, refurbs have been inspected. You can't say that about every widget coming off the production line.

If you go to canonpricewatch.com, and ask them to notify you when something is in stock- they'll send you an email right away, it's a great tool to get good deals- there's 6 of them still there, I'd expect at least a couple to stay in stock until they do a 20% off promo

I've purchased a laundry list of stuff from Canon refurb. 28 1.8, 70-200 f/4 IS, 60D, 17-40, 50 1.8 II (x2), 70-200 f/4 USM, and likely others. I've never had a problem with Canon refurbs. I tried 2 of the 50 1.8 IIs, and sent both of them back. Canon paid for all the postage both ways and gave me a complete refund. I just ordered a refurbed 135L. I have every confidence it will look and function as new. And I get a 12-month warranty for the same price as a used copy w/o it.

Yep, and i consider the refurb ~20% better than used, what with inspection and warranty. So if looking for this lens it'd have to be <$640 before a used one would tempt me.

I factor in PayPal fees and shipping, so I'd call $680 on a used 135L right even with an $800 refurb. Any seller would have to beat $680 by enough to pique my interest. $600, perhaps. If not, I'll happily pay for a Canon certified, inspected, and warranted refurb.

I should have my 135L tomorrow. If it isn't raining, I'll get a duck/goose at the park on the way home. Rain, I'll post a cat shot.

I have been following both...glad to hear the discussion about the refurbished canon lenses and some important facts was made known in the discussion. Agree with comparing used prices vs. price watch and the refurbished lenses. Right now I am waiting on green toe....street price on a 135L is 869 (with rebate). If I can get it for 800 I will probably go with it. The refurb price is very tempting though. Must be patient...lol thanks #7
