Just a heads-up. We're trying to get more people participating in the Before and After - The Weekly Editing Challenge. It might as well be in this section, but since there's a "winner" chosen each week, it's in the Competitions section.

It's a thread where everybody edits the same photo, shares their techniques, and helps each other out with constructive criticisms and tips. I'm hoping that we can get more novices involved, because the best way to learn is to help someone else. And, at the same time, I'm hoping that some of the post-processing pro's will stop by and give us all some hints.

So, even if you are brand new to post-processing, don't be embarrassed to try your hand at this. The crummier you are, the better. Or, if you're the best in the business, and know everything about everything, here's your chance to prove it (and help the rest of us out at the same time). Or, if you're in the middle, like most of us, this is a great opportunity to learn by doing and then learn even more by seeing how others handle the same situation.

The "Show Us Your RAW Conversions, BEFORE And AFTER" thread in this forum is fairly technical, and limited to the foundation of processing; breaking down the raw conversion process you use on your own photos. The Before and After Weekly Challenge has a more casual format and involves processing someone else's image from the raw developing stage, through to the completely finished image.

Please come by. We'll be happy to help, even if you get stuck at how to download a file and open it up to edit it. Or, if you're all-of-that-and-a-bag-o'-chips, come over for the challenge and see if you can really do better than the newcomers.

If you're just starting to get an handle on Lightroom and/or Photoshop (including Photoshop Elements), it's a great place to be. Same for those who are just learning about composition and cropping.

Replacing my Canon 7D, Tokina 12-24mm, Canon 17-55mm, Sigma 30mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4, and 150-500mm with a Panasonic Lumix FZ1000. I still have the 17-55 and the 30 available for sale.
