We had a pretty strange assignment last week, where we had to shoot a portrait using 'ghetto' lighting techniques and ideas. Mostly make shift stuff found on locations or in our kitchens and stuff...
I went to Memphis working on a black history month assignment and shot a few of my portraits there using colored tin foil reflectors and light from gas heater lamps that lined the street during the ice storm, had some seriously rockin stuff for me...but my card was corrupted due to a transfer issue on a Mac and as a last minute attempt before class I went back to the tattoo shop I shot a picture package at last semester...
one of the artist I didn’t know agreed to let me take a portrait, after about 10 minutes of working with him shooting more creative takes he was still a pretty cold subject, so I decided to change my ideas up and show him that way as best I could....

I had to cover a speaker two nights ago for the University Yearbook, some of the staff hasn’t been holding up to par, so I agreed to pick up a few assignments after talking with the editor in the lab.
His name is Dr. Mackie, he has like 5 degrees and a crazy history, he was speaking on the reform of higher education and how modern day culture is destroying the futures of today’s youth. Most of you might know...typical speaker assignments are ZZzzzzzzzzzzzz to shoot and can be a real challange, I took that and tried to make it as fun as possible.
