"Shy creative newb seeks info from users on wireless downloading."

The canon-usa site has little blurb on its info regarding the 30D:

"Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E1A
This accessory allows photographers to transmit images from their cameras directly to a computer over a local area network (LAN). It is compatible with the EOS-1Ds Mark II, EOS-1D Mark II N, EOS 5D and EOS 30D."

Whatever gadget you have to buy and plug into the hub, I know it can't be cheaper than a CF card reader... okay... but is it faster, a lot faster, or "I cannogivehernomorecapt'n!" warp-speed?

Got any links please?

Wow it costs more than my camera!

You could buy a prety big memory card for $999

This is obviously one of those items that is expensive because it is NEW and unique. My free (w/2y agreement) cell phone can send photos and video to my computer wirelessly. Unless you need it right now this technology is bound to get very cheap in the future.

One advantage of so many Hi-Tech companies entering the camera market is bound to be better features like this

Here is an article that I read about the Canon Wifi almost a year ago. http://www.sportsshooter.com/news/1356 (external link)

Sounds like a nifty little toy I would love to play with
