It's the time of year in my area for the young Ruby-throated Hummingbirds to fledge. It's been a little bit of a slow year for everyone I think, but this young male showed up on my deck about a week or so ago.
1. Seen here partaking of a Cuphea hybrid called "Vermillionaire".
2. Also on the Cuphea.IMAGE LINK: http://s407.photobucket.com …x700_zps2jootr67.jpg.html
3. You'll have to excuse the busy background as the outer blooms of my Bee Balm got blown off in a thunderstorm. This is by far his favorite plant.IMAGE LINK: http://s407.photobucket.com …x700_zpsb1ikxnpe.jpg.html
4. And yes, the adult male (there's actually 2 of them) is still hanging around and is as skittish as ever. Seen here feeding on Salvia guarantica "Black and Blue".IMAGE LINK: http://s407.photobucket.com …x700_zpsw4yko1hu.jpg.html

I'm sorry for the apparently low numbers of hummers here and elsewhere, but it looks like my male(s) will not be driven off this year by hoards of youngsters. I look forward to the opportunity to gather more images of him and other plants I have coming into bloom. Thanks for having a look!
