This session was fun, the girl is so cute. Their family is friends with mine, and they have an incredible story of how this girl came into being, she is their little miracle. It was an honor to shoot these!

Cute pics, but the subject looks underexposed on both of them.

Nice shots but something about the skin color that doesn't look right.

Yeah I agree about the skin tone, I need to go back in and see what is going on there.

They're adorable and I'm sure they'll be happy to have these pictures of their precious little girl. I do have to agree with the underexposed comment though... I realize that you probably didn't want to increase exposure because then the background in the first pic will be overexposed.. which is why some people like to use a reflector or some studio lighting/flash outdoors so they can softly and properly expose the subject without having to sacrifice the exposure of the background. These are really not bad at all for a first shoot though... Also another tip for next time 1/200 is a slightly low shutter speed especially for children, don't be afraid to bump up ISO to 400-600 if you have to so you can increase your shutter speed 1/600 or higher to get a sharper image. There shouldn't really be a whole lot of noise and a little luminance in lightroom can easily fix that up if there is. :-)

Looks like the second pic has a slight green tint to it? And maybe the first needs some warming?

I agree with the comments (very cute and underexposed). For the first picture you need a reflector or a fill flash. Currently the face is influenced by the other two reflectors: the purple-pinkish blanket and the blue dress. Very difficult to fix this odd color. A reflector (blanket...) or flash overpowers this tint.

The sky in the first looks like the highlights (or local exposure) was decreased quite a bit. No problem with that in general, but the juncture of it plus the fountain looks a little off to me. Was the highlight/exposure lowered? The bokeh, especially in number 2 with the grass, seems especially busy and distracting. If you've sharpened the image globally, I'd suggest removing all sharpening, select your subject, and JUST sharpen her. I might also crop number 2.

Agree with the others re: exposure. Blow the background if you have to and don't have anything to illuminate your subject while shooting.

VERY pretty little girl!

You nailed it on pretty much all fronts. I did no layer masking for the sharpening, and I agree it looks off.

As for the underexposure, you guys are all correct, it's a bit odd. I think when processing I was not making the baby my focus, but the sky. If I get the time, I may pull this one back out and try some different stuff to see if I can get it a bit better.
The parent's were very happy, but free portraits to build a portfolio have generally low expectations haha.
