I have an old Crumpler 6 Million Dollar Home (black exterior with green interior) and recently picked up a 7MDH. I was hugely disappointed by the quality of the inserts as they were much thinner than the ones in my old 6MDH. So I ended up returning the 7MDH and now need to find an alternative.

I'm looking for a shoulder bag that's similar to the Crumpler 7MDH in style that will fit:

  • Gripped 6D
  • 24-70 2.8
  • 70-200 2.8
  • 600 EX-RT
  • Miscellaneous items (filters, cleaning items, etc.)

I have looked into the Domke F-802 and F-803, and some of the Think Tank Urban Disguise bags. However, I'd like to get some suggestions from you good folks here in the forums!

The F-802 is too slim to take a gripped body (with a lens attached) without bulging. Consider the F-2 or maybe F-3x. The F-2 will handle it easily; the F3x (doesn't have inserts, just a couple of canvas loops and a removable divider) would be snug with the 24-70 on the camera and 70-200 separate; the 70-200 on the camera wouldn't work at all0.

Thanks Jon! I'll take a look at some of the Domke options. Quick question, in looking at the F-2, in most pictures I've seen, the camera body sits without a lens. Is that the recommended storage configuration?

I use a lowpro urban sling 250...

i can fit my gripped 70d + 70-200, sigma 17-50, and my flash in it. plus it has an outside pocket and an elastic side pouch. it water resistant and padded back. pretty comfy. you can swing it around to access it easily too.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I've had this type of bag before and I ended up dropping a lens because I wasn't careful. Luckily it was only the nifty fifty, but since then I haven't trusted myself with bags that zip open all the way.

That's the thing! Because of the snaps on the side, you can't unzip it all the way. You have to unsnap the side straps to be able to completely unzip it. With it snapped, you can only unzip the top. I can post pics when I get home.

I use mine with a 2 or 3 compartment insert (720-220 or 720-230 ) with the camera+24-70 vertical, or with the camera + 70-200 on its side (batteries in cases fit nicely under the lens).

Ah I see! Made for clumsy people like me! Yea, if you wouldn't mind taking some pictures, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Ok, I'm going to have to get to a store to try the f-2 out in person.

Sorry for the crappy pics. I'm on my tablet. But you can see what I mean. You need to undo the clips to unzip it more. It can unzip and fold open completely if you undo the straps. That top flap is also water resistant.

to show how the top flap covers the pocket to keep it dry...

Awesome bag! Thanks for the pictures! It'll definitely be worth adding to my list of bags to check out. Thanks again!
