When i'm trying to align the mount with the South Celestial Pole, one of the first steps is use a brujula to find the south.
How much degrees do i have to move the mount to E or W direction to find the SCP? I've read that this degrees amount varies from location to location.
I know i can find the SCP using Octanus, South Crux, and other constellations; i just want to know the degrees difference between magnetic south and celestial south ....

Here is a link to a website that should provide that info.

http://www.magnetic-declination.com …/Piriápolis/2874169.html (external link)

I have "set" it to Uruguay with the following results for Piriápolis.

Piriápolis
Latitude: 34° 53' 60" S
Longitude: 55° 16' 60" W
Magnetic declination: -11° 0'
Declination is NEGATIVE (WEST)
Inclination: 40° 59'
Magnetic field strength: 22901.9 nT

Cheers

Dennis
