I can't speak to focus issues, as the copy I have is perfect; but I will vouch that this is my all time favorite lens of any size, shape, or flavor.

If you can make it happen, I would encourage you to go for it.

BTW - there is a black copy (painted) on the sale forum.

Okay the one I am looking at is $3500 and looks BRAND new has everything except the warranty reg. card. I have 3/4 of the money.....I may do it early tomorrow and sell the 70-200 off to help cover some of it.

Please understand, IMHO, this is NOT a replacement for a 70-200 F2.8! It is an accessory! bw!

Does anyone have a pdf of the user's manual for this lens? I got one recently and would like to read it over. Thanks in advance. Sam T

I barely use my 70-200 it is going. I have decided not to do the 200 yet. I will wait till a do a gig or two maybe. I am replacing the 70-200 with a 85 F1.8 and 135 F2 and maybe a 35 F1.4 instead for now.

Whoa! I know we all shoot different and shoot different things. My 70-200 F2.8L IS ii is my go to lens for anything I am doing. Once I am exhausted every way of getting it done with that lens, I will of course go wide. My Zeiss 35mm f/2 Distagon T* ZE Manual Focus gets the job. When selecting an 85mm please consider what IMHO is the best 85mm AF on the market (I've done lots of testing side by side) Sigma 85mm f/1.4 EX DG HSM Lens. These are just my thoughts. I feel as if you are giving up quality (70-200) for quantity! (Bag O' lenses) You mentioned you had some savings, why not keep 70-200 and add 85 1.4 as well as a 35? Just my .02... Sorry to ramble...

From what I have read the 85 F1.8 from Canon is best suited to sports shooting. The 70-200 is nothing special focus is okay, blur okay sharpness okay. Only advantage it gives me is the Pan IS mode that I do use a bit.

I think having the speed if needed along with 2 focal lengths covered from the 70-200 is a much better idea. I never used my 24-70 F2.8 and dumped it a year ago my 50 F1.2 has been stuck on my camera ever since.....

No I wont I usually go 200 F2 or 300 F2.8 for the bigger events and then my 16-35 or 50 for the rest and strobes etc. I make a living from product and commercial photos not so much Sports I chose the wrong sport to make money in shooting! But if you want to trade your 200 for my 70-200 let me know! :)

I think 1 of the images on my site was done with the 70-200 BTW....

No I rent bigger lenses if shooting MX and bigger DH events. The rental fee isn't too much but since I dont use the 70-200 I should replce it with something.
