Canon EOS utility stopped working!!

The EOS utility has stopped loading! When camera is connected via USB and I click on the EOS utility icon ( to load the prog that gets the pics from the camera to the PC ) , nothing happens. I tried different USB ports but nothing. Windows explorer can see the Canon 5d3 connected and I can drag files manually to a folder but the Canon software has stopped. I have uninstalled and re- installed. I have used system restore. I have updated windows and reverted windows. I have downloaded the latest versions from Canon and retried my old versions from Disc. NOTHING!! I have run as administrator. The rest of the software is fine , it is just the EOS utility! ANY help? Anyone seen this before? I have been using this software for several generations for several years with different cameras. It has been working fine with my 5d3 for the past 18 months

Not trying to be sarcastic but have you tried calling Canon Technical Support @ 1-800-652-2666?

No offense intended, but there are so many ways to transfer photo files from camera or card reader to computer, why is it important to use EOS Utility?
Seems a bit like the man who ran for miles chasing the bus he missed while ten others passed him.

It's true, I never use EOS Utility to transfer photos from the camera/card to the computer...

What can be more bothersome is if the EOS Utility tethered shooting utility is malfunctioning...that could be a real bother!! :)
