I was looking back through some old images and came across this, it was shot last year with my t3i before I got my 7d. I'm a little better at pp now so thought I would post it.

Thanks Nighthound, that was the very first shot taken with the 55-250 is ll, in my backyard. Amazing how sharp those cheap lenses are!

Nice, Not to hijack the thread, but How do you like your 7D and how does it compare to the T3i. I have the t3i and will be upgrading in August. Stuck between the 7d and 70d. I don't think I can afford a 7d2 (the obvious choice) Thanks. Cole

Thanks Cole, I love the 7d, actually I keep a short zoom on the t3i, for landscape or whatever else, but my main focus is birds and wildlife, the 7d lives on the Tammy 150-600. The af is much more accurate and faster which is what I needed, plus it is customisable and you can mfa if needed. The t3i is a good camera, but just couldn't quite cut it with the Tammy. I just got a lowepro aw 500 flipeside so I can leave the hood in shooting position while in the bag. I've heard good things of the 70d, but haven't shot one. Only way I'd give up the 7d is for the mark 2. Even then I'd sell the t3i and keep 7d for backup. After shooting t3i you're used to the noise from these sensors so that shouldn't be a problem for you. I really don't recall having any overly noisy shots, I just make sure to expose to the right. Hope I answered your question! Oh and if you're careful on eBay you can get a low click body for cheap!

Very nice Dave.

Thanks Peter, I forgot how clear that little 250 is! And of course better pp skills have a huge impact on an image.

Thanks,

Ive been using the 5dii on the Sigma 150-600, and the t3i for everything else. I'm curious to see how the 7d would compare to the 5dii!

Not sure, I've never shot one, but I've heard they don't af so good for action, like BIF? I've heard good things about the Sigma sport and c models. I was kind of down when I put the Tammy on the 3ti. BIF was just about out of the question, seemed to hunt alot on stationary objects. 7d really took care of all that, I'm pretty happy now. Of course a cannon 500 is or 600 is would be nice!

Dave, excellent shot. (And pp.)
And re the side bar- I don't think for birding the 7D can be beat- FOR THE PRICE. And I haven't seen a complaint about either that Tammy or Sigma's version, the C model. Yeah, the mark ll and 1 of those Canon primes you mentioned would be awesome, but...Shucks, might as well dream about 1DX while we're at it, right?:-)
Do those nighthawks ever look like they're really awake?:-)

Thank you Ardeekay and Lester, they do blend into their surroundings really well. There was one in my backyard yesterday, got a couple not so great shots, couldn't get a good angle, then he moved to electric wire where I got some good shots, but I really don't like artificial objects in my bird shots. I may post them anyway since that's all I've got lately! And yeah if Santa is listening a 7D2, a 600 f4 and both extenders would be nice!
Until that happens I'll make do with my 7d and Tammy. My talent hasn't exceeded my equipment yet!
