Here are a few from the Color Run in Lansing, MI on 7-11-15

I always shoot the booths for them when they are in town. Much more fun than the course! We get to be by the stage which is pretty fun! Not sure if I will do anymore this year after this one though. They added glitter! And this glitter is powdered! It's like the glitter that's in glitter lotion! I STILL have some in my skin! My gear is wrapped up nicely and protected though.

I was disappointed in the setup this time. They usually have a nice backdrop, but this time they had nothing. Last year, I was inside the kaleidoscope with mirrors and it was pretty cool. The money is OK but I do it more because it is fun! Everyone is happy and in a good mood! :)

These are a few that I kept. They allow us to copy them all and use them for our portfolio. I just grabbed a few random ones via WiFi from my tablet.
For the booth, they have specific settings they want us to use. They have me wired to two Alien Bees. It was pretty sunny too.

So you don't get any powder leaking through the front of the lens? The powder they use for the Color Runs is notorious for getting in *everything*, including through the front of the lens with or without a lens protector.

Nice selection of photos, like the story told by #3 - #5.

I've shot about 10 of em and haven't had any issues. I use a rain sleeve and tape it to the end of my lens hood. I use a filter too. I avoid anything getting thrown directly at me though. I would guess the ones who get it thrown at their cameras probably have issues.

Thanks btw. I had some better ones but I just quick grabbed some random ones and saved em before handing over the SD card. I had some sweet ones of people jumping and doing various things too.

These 2 had several bags of the powder left and the concert was over so I convinced them that there was no point in saving it and instead they threw an entire pack into each others' faces! They tried to hug me after but I got away. lol

I think you're a maniac for shooting these with a nice camera! Personally, I'd just bill an extra $300 and find a used T2i and kit lens to sacrifice to the color gods. At least until GoPro adds a sync port :)

These people are probably the jerks who don't use a cover or anything. I've seen cameras and lenses like what he is describing. I see people who use nothing and just don't care.

I use a rain sleeve and gaffers tape, which they provide. I also use a uv filter and put my lens hood on. I tape the rain sleeve around the end of the hood. I then cinch the draw string on the other end. I don't put my hand under the sleeve, I just hit the buttons through the plastic. There is not as much as a spec on it when I am done.
