I am considering changing to an Olympus em-5 ii and have a questions about polarizing filters. I read that linear polarizing filters work perfectly on mirror-less camera's and that circular ones also work, but do not add any value.. Is this correct?

That is not correct. A circular polarizer is more versatile, allowing you to adjust the angle of polarization so that you can get the desired effects you want. They are great for landscape and photography where there are reflections, like autos, buildings, water, etc.

Thanks for the answers and link. Maybe I should rephrase the question. Is there a difference between using polarizing filters on a dslr and mirrorless camera? I read some where that you only need linear ones on mirrorless.

Nor is this. They both do the same thing with a linear filter being more effective. However on SLR cameras you need a circular polarizer due to the AF and metering needing the mirror. I would think that on mirrorless camera you can use either.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I've used a linear one on my mirrorless and it works perfectly. Came with an old 80s SLR kit.
