I've often used Live View with the Canon 760's flip out LCD monitor for taking shots with my Tripod...setting the angle to a convenient level certainly makes life easier for us older folk.
And now I've discovered the wonders of NFC, where I use my mobile phone with a free app called Camera Connect to set up and activate the camera on the tripod for easy shots.
