Sandisk CompactFlash cards (external link) from Amazon work well in my D700s. I use Ultra and Extreme, but I don't bother with Extreme Pro. I've been using them for a couple of years with no problems. Transcend didn't work as well. I'm not generally a Lexar fan, a friend had some of their cards years ago, they weren't compatible with generic readers.

Fake or not...stay away from sources like eBay, even Amazon unless you pay careful attention to the vendor. Places like Best Buy purchase by the hundreds and direct from the importer so there isn't any middleman to worry about. I'm not too sure as to what they may sell however in the way of CF cards as I only need to purchase SD cards and then Sandisk.
