I contacted Canon customer service and was surprised to find out they are not able/willing to give an estimated delivery date on a 5DR if I placed an order. Any idea what any of the retailers are saying?

Check Adorama, B&H, Amazon, or Best Buy. The last I read they had some cameras inbound. Maybe you should just order it from your preferred retailer and play the waiting game? I want to read more reviews before I buy one! :-)

Sent a message to B&H yesterday that I had a 5DR and a Zeiss 21mm in my shopping cart but wanted an estimate on the delivery date of the 5DR before sending the order. No reply. I have a trip to Utah planned Aug 21 and would like to know the likelihood of delivery before then.

I was waiting for real world sample images. They are in and I'm sold.

24 Hours after contacting B&H to tell them I had over $5500 worth of gear in my shopping cart but had one question before completing the order, "customer service" still has not responded. Needless to say I'll be getting my gear but B&H will get the order only if they are stocking the very last ones on the planet ... which is to say, not too ****ing likely :-)

honestly, i don't think they care ha ha. but anyway, i haven't ever had problems with them, but they do take a long time to answer emails sometimes. if you call though they will be very helpful, and obviously, immediate.

btw, i just bought one for $3500 cpw street price. like just now. can't wait!

Nice that they don't care ... I don't either. Marriage made in heaven.

A very helpful member pm'd me the cpw link ... I wasn't aware of that. Went with the 5DS and am putting the $300 towards the Zeiss ... NOT from B&H :-)

that 5ds is gonna be awesome for utah man. perfect use for that crazy res.

btw, i didn't mean to say bh's service isn't good, cause it is--it's just that they are slow with emails sometimes. just call and they'll be great. 90% of my camera money goes to them.

also, just a tip for you if you don't already know, when i went to that arch in canyonlands, there were already like 10 photographers camped out there 1hr before sunrise. and there were zillions sitting out at the delicate arch for sunset.

Thanks ... I've done biz with B&H and they've been fine.

I've been to Utah a few times and never shot Mesa Arch. I mean, what's the point :-). We'll be bringing my youngest son for his first visit to the area so we just may have to do Delicate Arch before we head to the roads less travelled.

This is the from one of the two the Maze Overlook camp spots. Crazy road to get in, particularly with a camper but well worth it. Haven't been there with a "good" camera yet.
