Yup, old thread and a bit of a moot point at this stage, since I finally decided to stick with my EOS system and not invest in any mirrorless at all (the cameras might be small, but the lenses usually aren't; plus, the investment is too much for a complementary camera, with some lenses costing over 1K, almost up there with L glass), but to answer your question: I don't like connectivity, mostly for security reasons: I don't trust it. I don't want anyone hacking into my camera or intercepting transmission and getting my files.

And yes, it's a shame that most cameras will be packing it sooner rather than later.

IDK about that... for one, this thread is about a Fuji X100 series camera, they don't have removable lenses, thus that point is moot. But even the MILC from Fuji aren't that bad depending on what lenses you use, the 35/1.4, 18/2, 27/2.8 are are all tiny and weigh practically nothing and still deliver where it counts.

As for the connectivity, not going to start an argument over it, your beliefs are your beliefs and I can certainly understand being worried about security... but having numerous friends in the intel field for the military, your fears are pretty far-fetched.

Actually the lenses are much smaller. And if you're posting on the internet, you are already creating a bigger security risk for yourself than anyone hacking into your camera wi-fi connection. Not trying to start an internet argument, just putting things into perspective. That said, I respect anyone's decision to stick with what they have/like. There's no reason to change, or add to your collection, if you are perfectly happy with what you have.

This.

Heck, you're at a bigger risk just using your phone... like, at all.
