A few pics from my first outing with the Sigma Contemporary lens. There is certainly a learning curve to shooting at 600mm and I do have a lot to learn, but one has to start somewhere. These pics were taken at a local ranch that I frequent from time to time. It was very exciting watching these bucks.

These look good, Terry! Love #2. Can you shoot hand holding the lens, or is it too heavy for that?

Thanks Levina. It is possible to hand hold this lens. At about five and one half pounds, including the camera, not everyone will find it useable handheld. If one is considering using it that way, one could try handholding an object in that weight range for a period of time to determine if it is feasible for them to successful use it handheld.::-)

Great shots Terry! I would say you are doing well with the lens. Would love to hear more feedback on this lens as you use it more and more.

Well done Terry and congrats on your first outing with the new lens. You know I'm hooked on the White Tailed deer so these are a pleasure to see, nice bucks.
I sure like using my monopod with my 150-500, although I can shoot it hand held easily enough, it is between shots and just using it to rest the weight on that I enjoy. Wish we could shoot together for a day, I'd like to try that 600 and see if trading my 150-500 is in the future.
Will look forward to more shots from your setup and keep after those deer.

Thanks Steve. I probably should pack my monopod along. Hopefully some day we will be able to get together again and do some shooting.
That would be a great adventure and something I would look forward to.:-)

Thanks for the comments Dave. Yes, Bayview is a very pretty area. As a side note, there was a fairly large forest fire thru that area over the 4th of July. Six or seven homes were lost.

I had heard of the fire, that was really too bad. Have you been to the opposite side of the lake from bayview? Lots of mountain goats there at the slides. Have to go by boat tho.

I was there a couple of years ago fishing with my son. I didn't know there were any goats there. It's a little steep on that side. Also in spots, the water is a little deep, like over 1200'. :-)
