This gal has a wider face, and would benefit from short lighting. Here you have her broad lit, and almost split lighting. Nose needs to be toward the key light.
Also you want the catchlight in her eyes to be higher, either at 11 or 2, depending on which way she is facing. Key Light need to be taller, and feathered forward of her a bit more, then one opposite the key for some rim lighting.
Could also try clam shell lighting on her, but again, I think short lighting will be the most slimming.
I think most pageants have gone to color photos. FYI, at least googling them brings it up that way.
