Well I just read the press release, interesting, but not helpful to me, my newest camera is a 50D. Even if I had a current camera, why I would want to have to use two different versions of DPP, one for the older pictures, and one for new ones? I cannot think of any other RAW processing software that does this. It is one of the lesser recognised advantages of shooting RAW, that improvements in RAW image processing can be applied to older images, or to improve the results you can currently get from older cameras.

One other thing that makes me at least chuckle a bit, if nor outright laughter, is the term Highlight recovery. Its not has if the data wasn't recorded in the first place. Its simply a case of the relativly unsophisticated automatic in camera processing fails to make practical use of that image data. DPP in closely following the in camera processing has for at least three or four years fallen behind the other RAW processing engines in management of highlight detail. I also note that since the introduction of PV2012 that Adobe dropped the recovery term, and now just refers to highlights and white point. Not to forget the black point, shadows at the other end. Sometimes I think the PV2012 Exposure control should be renamed mid tones, although it does seem to have more overlap than the other controls.

DPP4 is the worst piece of software I've ever used. It is very slow and full of bugs. There are layers upon layers of processing (possibly ones patching others). It suffice to start panning the image and the whole re-rendering starts again, and you'll have to wait some more. You definitely need the latest and greatest computer to compensate for the silly programming. Once zoomed to fit, the processor usage skyrockets to 100% and stays there. How strange is that?
But the biggest bug, which turned me away completely form this software, is in the Highlight Recovery tool. It introduces awful color shifts.
Do you like greenish skin? Me neither.
A long time ago, the Adobe and other raw converter products were behind Canon in color reproduction and detail. But now the game has changed. I switched to Lightroom 5 and I'm stunned by the IQ and functionality.

I'm using a 2009 iMac with 12GB Ram and a i7 2.8 processor and I'm have NONE of the issues you mention.

The highlight recovery tool is not the best out there, but no colour shift at all for me.

Not a great image but, I open the image in DPP4 then convert and save to jpeg, nothing done to it at all.
