What he means is it was taken with a "white-light" filter. A filter that allows every band of light through, just at greatly reduced levels. That's as opposed to something like an H-Alpha filter that only allows a very narrow band of light through.

SiriusDoggy is correct. For the white light I'm using an ES102 refractor with a Lunt Herschel wedge. The wedge filters out all the UV light and only allows about 5% of the visible light through. I've also attached a baader solar continuum filter to the eyepiece and/or camera to cut down the visible light even further and add more contrast to the view.
