Hi guys, sorry if this is a noob questions.

Ive been using entry level 550D for 5years.
Never use any mid range or highend body so far.

I bought my self a 6D for lowlight.
But I cant get it shoot still using liveview.

In my 550D is easy, I just press the liveview button in manual mode (M dail) then I can acess all setting in still photo mode (like shutter speed lower then 1/30. Lowest/highest iso)
But for 6D. When I press the liveview toggle switch.
It goes to liveview too, but shutter speed and iso is locked in video mode....... so I am doing wrong or you just cant use liveview to shoot still for midend/highend body?

I am confused@@.
Thanks!

I don't have a 6D but according to the manual (page 181), live view shooting must be enabled.

When I press the liveview toggle switch.

switch?

a switch is the lever that goes from video to stills mode.

the button in the center of that switch is what takes you to either mode, depending of course on what mode is selected.

so to take a photo in live view you toggle the switch to the white camera, then press the stop/start button … compose, focus, press the shutter release.

one key is knowing what focus mode to choose If you are doing the above, you may not be achieving focus so your camera might not release the shutter.

bannedPermanent ban

My 6D will take stills while shooting video whether "Live View Shooting" is enabled or not.

EDIT:
Yes, what LHB said.

You have to do both of these things, not sure of the proper order.

If you are shooting video (30 fps) how can you go below 1/30?...-?

I am trying to use liveview focus to shoot still.

Are you sure that the pointer shown in pic 2 above is pointing to the still camera, NOT THE MOVIE CAMERA?

Look again at comment #3 (Left Handed Brisket).

The selector switch (surrounding the START/STOP button) should be pointed at the white camera icon, not the red video icon.

I have a 5DIII and can confirm that when the red video icon is selected, the SS=1/30 and min ISO = 100 are the limits. However when you select the white camera icon, you can set SS < 1/30 & ISO=L
